Can I drive without the plastic bumper cover?

Hey there! I was wondering if it's okay to drive my car without the plastic bumper cover? The other day I had a little fender bender and my front bumper got damaged. I'm thinking about removing it temporarily while I figure out the repair situation, but I'm not sure if that's safe or legal. What do you think - can I drive around without it for a while, or should I get it fixed right away?
