Engine mount failure can produce vibration and drivability complaints similar to misfires. In vehicles such as the Nissan Xterra equipped with the VQ40DE V6, worn mounts may cause excessive powertrain movement, leading to intermittent misfire codes P0300, P0301, P0302, and P0303. These codes may be triggered by damaged wiring harnesses, loose grounds, or vacuum leaks caused by mount movement. The Xterra with the VQ40DE was produced through the 2015 model year; no 2024, 2025, or 2026 Xterra exists. For models that remain on the road, inspect the front and rear engine mounts for fluid leakage, torn rubber, and separation. Replace worn mounts and repair any wiring or vacuum issues to resolve misfire codes.
