For 2001–2005 Chrysler Sebring models, the rear suspension typically uses coil-over struts. A complete rear strut assembly usually includes the strut, coil spring, upper strut mount, spring seat, protective boot, and jounce bumper. Common symptoms of worn rear struts or strut mounts include clunking or rattling from the rear, uneven tire wear, excessive bouncing after bumps, and a loose or wandering feeling while driving. Suspension-related diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) may need to be read with a compatible scan tool, especially if the vehicle has an electronic suspension system. When replacing rear struts, always compare compressed and extended lengths for the exact model and confirm part compatibility with the VIN. Proper torque of the upper strut nut and mounting bolts is critical, and an alignment should be performed if other suspension components are disturbed.
