Turbocharger oil supply line issues can trigger multiple diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), including P0299 (turbo underboost), P2563 (turbo boost control position sensor circuit/range/performance), and P0045 (turbo/supercharger boost control solenoid A circuit). These codes are common on VW/Audi EA888 Gen3/Gen4 engines when the factory oil feed line becomes restricted, coked, or collapses internally.A restricted oil feed line starves the turbocharger CHRA (center housing rotating assembly). This leads to bearing wear, excessive shaft play, oil smoking, and eventually actuator or wastegate/VNT control errors. P2563 can appear because the boost control position sensor no longer sees stable actuator motion; P0299 appears because the turbo cannot build expected boost; P0045 may appear if the boost control solenoid circuit is affected by oil contamination or connector damage from leaking oil.For 2026, many technicians recommend replacing a degraded factory oil feed line with a high-temperature, braided stainless steel line with a PTFE inner liner. PTFE resists coking better than older rubber or nylon hose and withstands continuous underhood temperatures around 150–200°C (300–400°F). Typical replacement lines use a -3AN or -4AN fitting size, with OEM-compatible banjo bolts or threaded fittings and new copper or aluminum crush washers. Before installation, always verify oil pressure and oil level, inspect the turbo inlet shaft for radial and axial play, and prime the new line and turbo with clean engine oil. Torque banjo bolts to manufacturer specification—often around 25–30 Nm (18–22 lb-ft)—and never use thread sealant on oil fittings unless specified. Also inspect the oil drain line for kinks or blockages, because a good feed line cannot fix a bad drain.Using the correct upgraded oil feed line, combined with proper oil change intervals and high-quality full-synthetic oil, can prevent repeat P0299/P2563/P0045 failures on tuned and high-mileage EA888 engines.
