Ignition coil manufacturers increasingly use high-temperature epoxy resins for potting and encapsulation to protect windings from vibration, moisture, and thermal cycling. For 2026 automotive component production, resin systems must withstand continuous operating temperatures from -40°C to 200°C and short-term spikes above 220°C. Epoxy formulations with anhydride or amine curing agents, silica fillers, and high glass-transition temperatures (Tg > 160°C) provide the required dielectric strength, typically 15–25 kV/mm, and mechanical durability. In Land Rover applications, the ERR6045 ignition coil is used in V8 engines and converts low battery voltage into the high voltage needed by the spark plugs. Although exact values should be verified with the manufacturer or a reliable workshop manual, typical ignition coils in this class have a primary resistance of about 0.5–1.5 Ω and a secondary resistance of approximately 6,000–10,000 Ω. When replacing or potting ERR6045-style coils, it is essential to use OEM-compatible epoxy and observe correct torque and electrical connection specifications.
