The Dodge Neon and related Chrysler Sebring/Plymouth Neon models use an ignition coil pack that can fail and cause misfires. A common OEM part number is 4671025. To test the coil, use a digital multimeter. Primary resistance is measured between the coil's positive and negative terminals and typically should be around 0.5 to 1.0 ohm. Secondary resistance is measured between the high-tension towers and is usually between 7,000 and 12,000 ohms, though you should always consult the specific vehicle service manual. If the coil shows out-of-range readings or the engine has misfire codes such as P0300 through P0304, rough idle, hard starting, or reduced fuel economy, inspect the wiring and spark plugs before replacing the coil.
